A global conference in Uganda set to explore issues of children deprived of their liberty within the justice systems in Africa
7 NOVEMBER 2011 ADDIS ABABA : Together, the African Child Policy Forum (ACPF), a leading advocate on policy and dialogue on children in Africa, and Defence for Children International (DCI), a non- governmental organisation that promotes and protects children’s rights on a global, regional and local level, hosted a major international conference on child justice in Kampala, Uganda on 7-8 November 2011.
Over 300 delegates from all over the African continent and the wider world attended the “Deprivation of Children’s Liberty as a Last Resort”, which was held at the Speke Resort and Conference Centre in Kampala, Uganda.

He developed the spirit of working for children in 1998 as one of the founding members of Defence for Children International Sierra Leone chapter, whist he was still in school/college.
After his first degree (B.Sc.) in Environment and development in 1991, he joined the Saint Joseph Secondary School and served as a teacher until 2003. In 2003 he got a Masters degree in Development Studies (M.Sc).
In September 2003, Mr. Kemokai was recruited as National Coordinator for Defence for Children International. He has worked very hard to extend the organisation’s operation from the capital city Freetown to the three provinces in Sierra Leone where the organisation was much more needed for its advocacy campaign against child abuse.
He has developed the National Standard for the Protection of Children in the Criminal Justice System in Sierra Leone in 2006 and was also part of the technical team that developed the National Juvenile Justice strategy in Sierra Leone in 2006.
